About East Rose

The name ‘East Rose’ originates from the Cornish word ‘ros’ meaning ‘close to water’ and refers to the idyllic De Lank river and Delphy bridge nearby.  With origins dating back to at least 1172, East Rose was originally a large farm of approximately 500 acres.

Although the surrounding landscape will not have changed much over the years, East Rose and its buildings have slowly diversified into a stunning hamlet of holiday cottages, lakes and gardens. Situated on the western edge of Bodmin Moor in an area designated as being of Outstanding Natural Beauty with some of the most beautiful and rugged scenery in the country, East Rose is a perfect setting for a wonderful relaxing holiday in this beautiful part of Cornwall. 

We are located 7 miles, as the crow flies, from the North Cornish Coast meaning the wonderful beaches and seaside villages that North Cornwall has to offer are within easy reach.  Wadebridge, Padstow, Port Isaac, Polzeath and Rock are all within a gentle 30 minute drive from East Rose.  Our central location means that exploring Cornwall could not be easier and attractions on the south coast such as The Eden Project, Looe and Polperro are within a gentle 45 minutes drive.

Our holiday cottages have been converted from the original stone and slate barns and retain many original features including exposed timbers and stone walls, and are equipped with all the home comforts you could need for a quiet, relaxing break.  Panoramic views of rolling cornish countryside as well as our lakes and gardens are available from most windows.  Large gardens, picnic areas and a built in barbecue surround the cottages and there is additional seating and picnic areas around the lakes.

Our private lake complex for pleasure fishing is located approximately 100 metres from the cottages and offers a superb extra to your holiday in Cornwall.  Originally an area of wetland, the site was transformed in the 1980’s and now includes five lakes, half a mile of landscaped paths and picnic benches and supports a variety of habitats.  The lakes are best suited to beginners, children and the relaxed pleasure fisherman wanting peace and quiet away from the crowds, surrounded by stunning cornish countryside in a tranquil setting.  Our lakes contain Tench, Bream, Crucian Carp, Roach, Rudd and Carp ranging in size up to 3lb.
